One of Canada’s most beloved dance companies Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal will perform two spectacular dances - Les Chambres des Jacques and Jack in the Box as part of the 30th Anniversary Celebrations of the Brian Webb Dance Company.

Under Artistic Director Louis Robitaille, bjm_danse comes to Edmonton with a program choreographed by acclaimed choreographer Azsure Barton worthy of its reputation. In Les Chambers des Jacques, Barton challenged herself to search for the human being in the dancer (and not the opposite). With a half-lyrical, half-casual tone and a pace that is sometimes breathtaking, this intimate piece borrows audacious rhythms from Vivaldi to Vigneault in a celebration of life, and the commonplace details that miraculously enrich our everyday experience.

Jack in the Box, a new creation which premiered in Ottawa in June 2008 is co-produced with the Canada Dance Festival, the National Arts Centre, and The Banff Centre, and follows the first part of Les Chambres des Jaques. This performance is guaranteed to appeal to everyone…Aszure is not afraid to entertain all who encounter her dance.
